EARLY BIOGRAPHY
June 15, 1965: El Culo Negro is born Felix Navidad, the youngest in a family of 13 children, in Nogales, AZ. November 4, 1968: Richard Nixon is elected president of the United States. Felix’s father, a staunch Democrat, moves the family across the border to Nogales, Mexico to avoid Republican oppression. August 3, 1972: Felix becomes an orphan when lightning strikes his childhood home, setting it on fire. Felix, the only survivor, crawls out of the flames with his buttocks stained black from the sting of pure electricity. March 19, 1980: Local wrestling promoter sees Felix in a streetfight and recruits him for the University Of Wrestling in Santa Claus. Felix dons his now-distinctive horned mask and becomes “El Culo Negro,” after his childhood deformity. September 7, 1985: El Culo Negro is named Mexico’s Top Wrestler as well as “Sexiest Man Alive” by Noticias. May 22, 1986: El Culo Negro returns to the U.S. as part of a wrestling exchange program that also sends Captain Lou Albano to El Salvador as a covert freedom fighter. Witnessing the terrible conditions of the country’s poor during the Regan years, along with the horror of Spuds Mackenzie, El Culo Negro’s nascent political spirit comes alive. He vows to right the wrongs of society and cure the ills of Americans who have been left behind by trickle-down economics and rampant yuppie material obsessions. For the first time in his life, he registers to vote. He registers as a Democrat. |
